It was the final day of a 9-day adventure tour in Thailand with REI Adventures. We spent the morning doing a cooking class. We had fun celebrating our time together, and I felt joy. It was also my 39th birthday. I was thrilled to celebrate with it in Thailand.
We biked through the rice fields in Thailand and stopped at a cave to explore. The cave was extremely hot and humid.
First, we biked through rice fields and then we went kayaking in northern Thailand when I noticed it was getting harder to paddle. Then we noticed that our kayak was filled with water. I knew we were going to tip.
While hiking on a group tour, I had a few thoughtful conversations with other members. It’s important to be able to talk about these things. We hiked, climbed a sticky waterfall, and got crazy Thai massages.

Our group tour hiked through the jungles in the northern Thailand with some incredible views! Then we stayed at a local family’s house. It was definitely some rough conditions. Sleeping in the same room with 15 people, on a thin mattress, and roasters crowing made it a restless night.
On the first day of the REI Adventures tour in Thailand, we visited a temple and night market. By day two, we were zip lining and hiking. I was terrified of the conditions while zip lining and found out that two months later, a Canadian man fell to his death on those lines.
I arrived at Chiang Mai, Thailand, exhausted from three very long flights. I couldn’t check into my hotel yet, so I wandered the streets.
I was on my way to the airport to Thailand when I realized my ex-husband was getting married that day. I was happy I was traveling instead. This was the start of a whole new chapter.
I went to Nashville to celebrate New Year’s Eve with some friends. Unfortunately, I had a pounding headache.
While I road-tripped across the USA, I had the opportunity to stop and see some family and friends. It was a lot of driving, but I made it to my parent’s house in time for Christmas!
My uncle, who is a pastor, had encouraging words that energized me. Sometimes we need fuel for our souls – like wise words.
It was time for me to leave Whistler, but I needed to tell someone how I felt. I found him and handed him a letter. I was nervous, but happy that I did it.
I did snowshoeing with a tour that took us to the top of the mountain on the gondola. Then I went snowmobiling in deep powder snow! I had been waiting more than a month for the snow!
I was able to make lots of friends from the beer tour, and game night at the library. My new friends and I played trivia and bingo at a bar. I was also hit on by a creep who take no for an answer.
I saw several films at the Whistler Film Festival in 2018. Some were amazing and others were just ok. It was fun to be there, though. I also enjoyed my new friends at the library game-night.
I met a guy at the bar of a nice restaurant and we ended up talking for hours, going to different bars as each one closed. He ended up coming over and we spent 16 hours together.
I was in Canada, but it was American Thanksgiving. I celebrated by going to the Vodka Ice Freezer for four tastings. I also enjoyed my favorite restaurant.
